Mathematics

Welcome to this section of the website, I hope you find the information useful and that all of the children who study Mathematics here will find the subject enjoyable yet challenging.

Curriculum

In Year 7 the students study Number, Algebra, Geometry and Statistics. They are also introduced to the wonder of solving equations in Algebra and analysing the results of data experiments.

In the forthcoming years each of these areas are studied in greater depth at a level appropriate to each students' ability.

In addition to this, Year 8 students are given the opportunity to take pat in computer simulations of real-life situations requiring Maths to solve problems.

In Year 9 all students complete a detailed statistical investigation. This can be used as the coursework component for the GCSE Statistics examination. The majority of students have the opportunity to take an additional GCSE in Statistics at the end of Year 10 or 11.

The aim of the Maths curriculum is to stimulate a life-long interest in maths and provide the necessary skills to cope with the challenges of adult life.
