Curriculum

All modules fall into one of our 5 key themes that the curriculum is based on. The themes are: Mapping Geography; Our Fragile Planet; Rich World, Poor World; My World and Our Hazardous Planet.

Key Stage 3

• Year 7 – My Town through Maps; Protecting our Countryside; What is Development? What is the UK? Weather and Climate.
• Year 8 – Mapping the People of Europe; Disappearing Eco-systems; Development – Am I Bothered? Exploring Europe; Rivers and Floods.
• Year 9 – Mapping the Impact of Tourists; Global Warming and Me; Can the Development Gap be Closed? The Rise of South East Asia; Earthquakes and Volcanoes.

Key Stage 4

• Tourism

The department is well known for the quality of its fieldwork where students have the opportunity to study at a local, national and international level from Saltburn and Whitby to the Lake District, Cornwall, Spain and Iceland.
