At Huntcliff Y11 students complete work towards their maths GCSE.  The Maths GCSE is made up of 4 components : A calculator and non-calculator paper each worth 40% of the marks and 2 pieces of coursework, one Maths and one Statistics which together contribute 20% of the total.

The maths GCSE may be taken at 3 different levels:

Higher (Grades A* - D), Intermediate(Grades B - F) and Foundation(Grades D - G).

At Huntcliff Set 1 pupils are entered at Higher or Intermediate, Set 2 pupils are generally entered at Intermediate, Set 3 pupils are entered at Intermediate or Foundation and Set 4 pupils are entered at Foundation Level.

In addition to the Maths GCSE some pupils will be selected to enter Statistics GCSE.  Set 1 and set 2 are usually entered at the end of Y10.  This will give them the opportunity of gaining a separate GCSE.

Students only need to produce one piece of coursework for the Statistics GCSE and Maths GCSE , however the coursework for Statistics contributes 25% of the marks towards the final grade.
