- Staying Safe and Being Healthy
- Making a Positive Contribution
We offer a wide range of opportunities for students to contribute to the wider school and local communities, supporting their development as active and interested citizens. We now work in partnership with a school in China and are aiming to achieve International School Status.
The students' own views are important to us: the School Council provides a regular channel for discussion of key issues and is an important decision making body, Council members are involved in staff appointments and all students complete an annual questionnaire.
Older students are encouraged to take on leadership responsibilities. Some train to be 'buddies', offering support to students who may feel vulnerable whilst others participate in the Junior Sports Leader Award.
The school has a regular programme of fund raising activities, supporting charities chosen by the students. We also facilitate recycling and have an active eco-group.
The curriculum offers a good choice of GCSE and vocational courses and is enhanced by our programme of activities. As well as the many trips and visits we run days focused on developing students' study skills and their understanding of wider issues. Our Careers Education and Guidance programme supports students in making the right choices after they leave Huntcliff School.
OFSTED recognised that 'A particular curricular strength is the specialist transition provision to guide students into further education, employment and training'. We are proud of the achievements of our former students.
