More information

We are committed to the welfare of every member of our school community. Each student is allocated to a form group and remains with this group and their tutor throughout the school. The tutor has an overview of the academic and social development of each individual and is supported by the Year Team Leader.

Communication with and support from parents and carers is vital to the success of our pastoral work.

Our transition arrangements are an important part of our welfare procedures. We welcome students from a large number of schools across the area and every child is visited in year 6 to begin the induction process. A taster day is followed by an afternoon for children and their parents.

Students learn best when they are happy, healthy and feel safe.

Our Behaviour Policy and Anti-Bullying policy are designed to support staff and students in promoting positive relationships within the school. Pastoral work in the first few weeks is focused on settling in and developing friendships and our Transition Mentor meets every child individually.

'Students are keen to take advantage of the many different sporting activities that encourage regular exercise. They also enjoy the healthy eating options available at lunch time' OFSTED 2007. We support the development of healthy minds and bodies through our provision of good quality food in our dining facility, and the availability of purified water which students are allowed to take into most classrooms.

The excellent sporting activities on site are enhanced by our regular daytime and after school access to the neighbouring Leisure Centre.
