More information

At Huntcliff School '...attainment and progress are well above local and national averages at both key stages' (OFSTED 2007). Staff in every area of the school work together with students and their parents to contribute to this achievement.

The school is recognised for its willingness to embrace innovative teaching methods and its desire to strive for continuous improvement. Our designation as a Specialist Humanities College has enabled us to build on this. Two ICT suites, class sets of laptops and interactive whiteboards are enhancing teaching across all subjects.

We encourage all young people to develop their full potential. To support this every student's progress is monitored against their starting point and appropriate targets set. Achievement is reported regularly to parents through profiles, progress checks and parents' evenings. Our system of commendations and annual presentation evenings for all year groups rewards both effort and achievement.

For students with special needs the majority of intervention is through in-class support provided by our skilled team of Learning Support Assistants. Those students with particular gifts and talents are provided with an enhanced curriculum both within the classroom and through additional learning opportunities.

Our wide ranging programme of local visits and residential trips in Britain and overseas allow students the opportunity to engage in different activities and to develop their personal and social skills.

The commitment of the staff and active participation of the students ensure that enjoying and achieving is a key feature of Huntcliff School.
