Cashless Catering System

School meals are organised through a ‘cashless’ system.  There are a number of ways to credit dinner accounts:

If students forget their card they are still able to get their lunch, however they must use their card number.  If they do not know this then they can come to the Attendance Office at break time only and ask the Main Office for it.  They must then go in for lunch last - all card holders get priority!

If a student loses their card then they can come to the main office for a replacement.  This will cost £2.00.

Access to the Catering Service

There is a hot meal facility available in the dining room and a hot and cold snack bar in the main hall. Students may also bring a packed meal, which must be eaten in the school hall.

A rota system for year groups operates.  Students queue in single file under the direction of the lunchtime supervisory assistants. Whether eating in the hall or in the dining room students are expected to leave tables clear and put litter in the bins provided. Removal of food from the Main Hall or Dining Room is not allowed.

Students staying at school for meals must not leave the school premises during lunchtime without permission from one of the senior members of staff or the teacher on duty. Parents are asked to inform school whether their children are to eat a school meal, bring a packed lunch or go home. Students who go home for lunch are not expected back on the school site until 1.05 p.m. and are the responsibility of their parents; they should not be in the town.

Free school dinners are supplied to some children by reason of their parents' income level, in accordance with scales determined by the Government. Every effort is made to ensure that children who receive free school meals cannot be readily identified by other students.

Eating outside

Items from the vending machine may be taken outside but litter must be put in the bins.  Eating elsewhere in the building is not allowed unless there is a member of staff actually with students and taking responsibility for them.
