what level am I working at...?
In years 7, 8 and 9 you will on be given a level mark on your coursework and for the last question in each module test. Below is a brief description of each level and what a students must do to meet them. Their aim is to continue to make progress and move up the level: Average attainment should be as follows: Year 7 - 4/5 Year 8 - 5 Year 9 - 5/6
Level 4 You
can recognise and describe patterns you see in geography You
can describe physical and human processes You
understand about people’s lives and how where they live
affects what they do and how they live You
start to ask geographical questions and start to investigate them You use the right key words in your answers CLICK HERE FOR EXAMPLE OF STUDENTS WORK AT THIS LEVEL Level
5
You
can now explain (give reasons for) the patterns you see in
both physical and human geography You
can describe how and why people’s lives in different
places can be the same or different, depending on the environment You
recognise how places are linked You
recognise that people’s actions can change the environment and
offer reasons for this You
can give your own opinions You
use the correct skills to investigate questions and places You suggest conclusions and can use graphs and writing to do this CLICK HERE FOR EXAMPLE OF STUDENTS WORK AT THIS LEVEL __________________________________________________________________________ Level
6
You
can describe and explain a range of physical and human processes You
recognise that these processes link together to give different
places their own special characteristics You
recognise that places are linked and depend on each other You
recognise that different environments have to be managed (looked
after) in different ways You
understand that different values and attitudes, including your own,
affect people and places in different ways You
can choose a range of skills to carry out investigations You can use the evidence you find to back up your conclusions CLICK HERE FOR EXAMPLE OF STUDENTS WORK AT THIS LEVEL __________________________________________________________________________ Level
7
You can describe how the physical and human processes interact (work together) You
can show how these interactions change places and environments You
understand that people’s values and attitudes influence
the decisions made about environments and can explain the changes that
happen as a result You

terms of location, physical and human processes and
interactions with other places You
can give reasons for the differences in development in different
places You
understand that many complicated factors result in different
qualities of life You
recognise the causes and consequences of environmental issues You understand how sustainable development can affect your own life and can give examples to illustrate this You
