China 2010

What the project involves for the students:

  • Students will act as a 'buddy' to the Chinese visitors in July and help create a video diary of this event
  • They will pass on their cultural knowledge and understanding to the new year 7 students, developing their communication skills.
  • They will visit China in May 2010 and be given the opportunity to help and develop Chinese students' English skills as well as broadening their own cultural understanding.
  • On return to the U.K students will complete their own video diary of the experience during activities week 2010 and host a China evening to present this back to the school and the wider community.
  • Fundraising £5000 as a group to help finance the visit

Expected outcomes of the project

  • The widening of students cultural 'horizons'
  • Preparing students for a life in an ever changing world
  • Encourage students to value the difference and diversity which makes the world such an interesting place.
  • To improve students communication skills
